About me

I am Anja Lietzau, an industrial designer from Munich. In my creative work, I focus on political, social, and ecological issues, and I see design as an opportunity to influence societal change. During my master's studies in Advanced Design/Design Research and in my master's thesis on "Inclusion through Design," I delved deeply into design in a societal context and universal design.

After graduating from high school, I studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. During this time, I discovered my interest in design and began my studies in Industrial Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich in 2015, which I completed in the summer semester of 2019 with my bachelor's thesis in Interface Design. I then pursued a master's degree in Advanced Design/Design Research, which delves deeper into future strategies, design in a societal context with a focus on sociology, politics, and sustainability. As part of my master's program, I also completed a year of Design Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, focusing on Human-Centered Design and Design and Accessibility.

My Skillset

My passion for design is also evident in most of my leisure activities. I often work on private creative projects, paint picture books, or develop board games as gifts for friends and family. Even when hiking in the mountains or traveling, I always bring my watercolors. For several years, I have also been selling Christmas cards to support an NGO kindergarten in Tanzania, with 100% of the proceeds going to the children on-site. I find relaxation in spending time in nature, and topics such as ecology and sustainability are very important to me. Therefore, I have planted a tree in every country I visited during my world travels. Additionally, I have been enthusiastically involved in theater at the Theater am Stadtwald in Dachau for 19 years, drawing a lot of positive energy from working with a team that has become like family to me.
